Wisdom and Folly

We’re starting a bible study on Proverbs in my life group. I’m really excited for this opportunity to grow. I’ve always wanted to bible study on Proverbs. Anyway my plan is to update my blog weekly with the lesson from each week. Hopefully to help me realize  and change faults in my life and comprehend what God is calling us to do.

I just did my first lesson from the book we’re using to guide our study and it’s a LifeChange series book on Proverbs and I figured I would go ahead and share some thoughts from lesson 1.

Everyday whether we know it or not God is calling out to us. To be in relationship, to seek him out, to reconnect with him wherever we are in our life. God wants to be in genuine relationship with us.  We just have to decide what we want to do.  There are two paths we can choose to take. One that leads to wisdom and one that leads to folly. Now I don’t know know where everyone is in their lives but for me I can tend to be quite selfish and consumed with the world at times. Much of the time I do the good things when its convenient for me and this is way wrong.  I need to learn to fear the Lord and take his stretched out hand. I need to answer the call of God today an now and seek him out to find true knowledge, true wisdom, and life.  God tells us in return to being faithful we will find wisdom and true knowledge in life and he will protect us.

Proverbs 1.24-26

But since you rejected me when I called and no one gave heed when I stretched out my hand, since you ignored all my advice and would not accept my rebuke, I in turn will laugh at your disaster; I will mock when calamity overtakes you.

Proverbs 1.28-29

Then they will call to me but I will not answer; they will look for me but will not find me. Since they hated knowledge and did not choose to fear the Lord.

Proverbs 1.32-33

For the waywardness of the simple will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them; but whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm.

We have a choice to make.
